Hawk's Death

Re: [hawksdeath] hello

Ken said: “Yes, I do have a Web site, complete with photos: http://satyr9.tripod.com/ken/”

This website is a riot! Everyone should go and look at it. Very funny, my wife and I also visited Paris before we left Europe (actually it was a Valentine weekend – the old surprise-trip-to-Paris-and-propose-on-top-of-the-Eiffel-Tower trick – it never fails) and it was funny to read your own observations of the Parisians and London too.

So Ken is another New York native, it seems the Big Apple is the hotspot for our group – I count 3 of 12 players from there.

“Judy did attend many gaming sessions in the early months of our relationship, and she said she was amazed by the creativity of the people in the group. However, she’s never had the most confidence in her own creative skills, so she doesn’t think she could do it. I asked her a couple of times to give it a shot if she felt like it, but she politely declined for that same reason.”

My wife has never even had the privilege of watching me game at the table, she just wonders what it is I am doing for hours on end every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday on the computer, and occasionally wanders in when we are chatting on MSN and asks what languages that is!

“Nevertheless, I consider myself quite fortunate to have a wife who doesn’t object to (and occasionally even encourages) my gaming hobby, even when I travel to conventions and buy $40 gaming products.”

$40 at a convention? Oh, you mean in the first hour, right?

Cheers

Ian

Fran: “About photos: Like I said on MSN, I’m much to humane to subject all of you to my ugly mug. I’ll use the scanner excuse later.”

Jason: “Ditto.”

Cowards!

Jason: “I’m an American mutt, living in beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado.”

I couldn’t find it on the map, but I reckon that must make you geographically closest to me Jason. Laramie is close to the state line with Colorado and although I have seen nothing of Denver except for the airport and nothing much of Colorado except for I-25 north we are planning a trip to Estes Park at some time in the future (I’m a Stephen King fan, I want to see the ‘Shining’ Hotel). We do get to Walden, Colorado often though as my wife has family there, but I am not sure if that one-horse little town counts. It is a good place to get drunk and lost in the mountains though.

“Dragon: (Approaches HOB without crossing line. Swallow’s hole HOB (head does cross line). Uses Breath weapon while HOB is still in its mouth) Party: “AIIIEEE…. Run for it!”

LMAO! Very nice! And I felt bad for throwing my players Halfling Cleric into a 4’ deep pool of refuse and feces."

Should I be taking notes? If this is how you guys treat your players…

Cheers

Ty's Player Jason

My name is also Jason. I live in Iowa and also work for a major retirement company. I am starting on my mba. Have a house and a houseboat for the summer (nothing special), more of a party barge. I am still single thus the reason for the houseboat. Women love houseboats…

I just got back this last night from taking a week off of work to help my brother and father get the crops in, but because of the rain/snow I will probably go back this weekend.

Jason from Colorado I have an old college roommate who lives in the Black Forest near you. I see him every year when a bunch of us get together to go skiing. Actually, they go skiing, I sit in the lodge drinking irish coffee in the mornings and whiskey sevens. I am not a fan of purposely falling down a mountain even if you can do it with style.

I have been playing D&D for about 16 or 17 years. I have never DM. I play mostly by email as most work/school/social schedule does not allow a set time every week to play a tabletop game. I do not have a favorite event yet in the game, because I haven’t been here long enough.

Re: [hawksdeath] hello

Hmmm well I don’t have much to say here…

I’ve been a gamer for hmm about 6 yr’s now or so. Mostly growing up I got hooked on Realms books (yeah yeah. lotta people hate the realms.) at that time I didn’t know that they were based on a rpg. The books were just good reads. Also was reading the dragonlance books at that time also. However, I finally figured out that there was a hobby store near me and I stopped in once and my addiction to rpg stuff was born.

I some times am a DM and also a player (some times prefer dm’ing :)) but so far Ian’s game seems interesting. I have a 2nd edit games on the weekend right now and none of us really are interested in starting a 3rd edit game with that group. hehe guess we are all heretics who don’t like a lot of the new rules.

Otherwise I live at home, yeah at 25 yr’s old I still do, but it’s cause of health problems and to many operations over the past 10 yr’s or so….. and not being able to work full time can be a real pain in the ass but ah well not that big of deal I guess…. Oh also I’m also a NY’er but upstate in here old Rochester.

Welp that’s all for now,

Kuje

Re: FOCUS ON ... FOCUS

Well, Ty is fairly new as a paladin. In a past life he was a sorcerer so I am still getting used to him as a paladin. He is a little more serious than he was previously. He will be good hearted, adventurous, but not as naive as before. What do you think, can a paladin be a little naive?

Re: [hawksdeath] Many replies.

“Well, that’s a lot of Emails to reply to, so I’ll just go from memory and reply as best I can.”

And I will abuse all of your hard work by replying to your reply.

“First, I’m back online again… yet, burning two hard drives in a year is simply excessive… I’ll have to double check my PC’s power supply and change the power suppressor, I think. I’ll also consider adding a few extra heatsinks.”

Gagga booha hiyts ug tanda. [Read: I know nothing other than how to turn it on.]

“So… about quoting: When ever I reply as Keiran, I’ll generously edit the previous post (read copy/cut/paste), quoting exactly where Keiran is coming from. I feel this leaves less space for errors.”

I generally try and modify the other players posts discretely so as to make my character look better in the end summary. ;)

“About photos: Like I said on MSN, I’m much to humane to subject all of you to my ugly mug. I’ll use the scanner excuse later.”

Ditto. Still looking for a good representational pic for my PC though.

“About me: Well, for those who don’t know me, I’m Francisco. Venezuelan and 24 years old. Computer Science student (less than one semester away from my degree). I have a part time job translating to/from English/Spanish, the money of which I callously spend in the movies. And I’m happily single, thank you very much.”

I’m an American mutt, living in beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado. I work at a retirement company and go to school by night. I have a beautiful wife who “doesn’t get rpg’s” but let’s me play anyway and two wonderful kids.

“From a gaming POV, I’ve ran a PnP, D&D campaign on Sundays for a bit over two years now. Players are reaching the high teen now and feel confident enough on taking on their first dragon and surviving to tell about it.”

I don’t think you can put ‘confident players’ and ‘Dragon’ in the same sentence.

“Memorable moment from this campaign…”

LMAO! Very nice! And I felt bad for throwing my player’s Halfling Cleric into a 4’ deep pool of refuse and feces.

Many replies.

Well, that’s a lot of Emails to reply to, so I’ll just go from memory and reply as best I can.

First, I’m back online again… yet, burning two hard drives in a year is simply excessive… I’ll have to double check my PC’s power supply and change the power supressor, I think. I’ll also consider adding a few extra heatsinks.

So… about quoting: When ever I reply as Keiran, I’ll generously edit the previous post (read copy/cut/paste), quoting exactly where Keiran is coming from. I feel this leaves less space for errors.

Focus on: Keiran’s had his focus week allready, and since I’m not above using a good idea from someone else, I did something similar in my own PnP campaign. Turned out rather well. (BTW, someone noted that they’ve seen both my char’s name spelled both Keiran and Kieran in various posts and along book 4. It’s spelled, K-EI-RAN. If you see me spell it otherwise, it’s a
typo.)

About photos: Like I said on MSN, I’m much to humane to subject all of you to my ugly mug. I’ll use the scanner excuse later.

About me: Well, for those who don’t know me, I’m Francisco. Venezuelan and 24years old. Computer Science student (less than one semester away from my degree). From a gaming POV, I’ve ran a PnP, D&D campaign on Sundays for a bit over two years now. Players are reaching the high teens now and feel confident enough on taking on their first dragon and surviving to tell about it.

Memorable moment from this campaign:

Party: “AIIIEEE… green dragon, run for it” (party runs for it!)

Half Orc Barbarian: “I’m tired of running whenever we meet something moderately challenging!”(Walks towards the lake’s shore, draws a line in the sand)

HOB: “You! Dragon! I challenge you to cross this line… I DARE YOU!”

Party: (Stops to see what happens)

Dragon: (Approaches HOB without crossing line. Swallow’s hole HOB (head does cross line). Uses Breath weapon while HOB is still in its mouth)

Party: “AIIIEEE…. Run for it!”

Re: Posting Protocol and House Rules

“I prefer to quote only those portions to which I am directly replying (as I’ve done here). Sometimes, if I’m replying to a short post, I may not quote anything.”

My thoughts exactly, so I wonder why I completely failed to do that here?

Of course back in the game, my updates and turns include all PC posts as a PART OF the post so what I am really getting at is just PC POSTING. But I am pleased you can understand what we’re all on about Ken.

Anyone seen the 16 or so new Priest Domains for GH over on canonfire.com? Any thoughts?

Cheers

Ian
